My testimony is
not a hardship story. I was raised in a God fearing home that lived for
the Lord. The Lord has never led me wrong. I have been stubborn on many
occasions, every time telling myself next time I would listen first.
I
was saved on April 15, 1984. I was baptized on May 6, 1984. I remember
on the Sunday before I went down the isle that a little girl went down.
I didn’t understand what she had done. Everyone was so happy
& making a big deal over her. I had asked Jesus into my heart in
Sunday School long before this. I didn’t know this was how it was
made “official” so I asked my dad if I could go down. He
said we would talk first so that I would understand for sure what I was
doing. Since I was only 10 he wanted to be sure I was going down for
the right reason. Of coarse I chirped up “I’ll be 11 in 3
months!” Later that week I asked my dad if we could talk about
it. He told me in terms that I could understand what it meant. I told
him I was ready. So we went to the church for me to talk to the pastor.
The pastor and I talked about it. I still felt I was ready. He then
asked me to place my name in John 3:16 instead of “the
world”. So I did. It helped me to understand even better what I
was deciding. I urge you to do the same. It will open your eyes a
little more on just how powerful GOD’s love is.
“For
GOD so loved Jeff Sims, that he gave is only begotten Son so that if
Jeff Sims believes in Him Jeff Sims will not perish but have
everlasting life.”
That was over 20 years ago & to this day I can still remember sitting in his office doing this.
I
met my wife in church in 1996. I visited a church with a friend of mine
because my boss was her Sunday School teacher. I went in order to mess
around with my boss; he & I were pretty close. I noticed a girl in
there. So I continued to go with my friend every couple of weeks until
I learned a little more about her. I learned her name & gathered up
enough nerve to ask her for her phone number. A little over a year
later I asked her to marry me. We got married on August 1, 1998. The
rest, as they say, is history.
I was always told aggravating
people would get me in trouble. Well, it got me married. I went to
aggravate my boss & met my wife. GOD works in mysterious ways. It
was very important to me to meet a Christian woman to share my life
with. He answered every prayer in his time. He even added a little
extra. We were blessed with our son on January 27, 2004.
Keep
GOD #1 & 1st in your life. Always remember things happen in HIS
time, not ours. If you wait for GOD to answer your prayers he most
certainly will. I can tell you from personal experience that HIS clock
is worth waiting for.
