REV. DON STANLEY
JAIL IS NO PLACE FOR KIDS (OR ANYBODY)
Don's Testimony tells of how God brought him out of the pits of sin.
The bloody hand prints that ran down the wall were a grotesque reminder of a man who had once lived but was now dead. That was my cellmate just hours before, he had taken his own life. Let me share with you how God stopped me from doing the same thing. JAIL IS NOT FOR KIDS! (OR ANYBODY) As I watched him die, he asked me to pray for him but I didn't know how. I felt helpless because I wanted to die too rather live in this stinking Federal prison. Life in the fast lane had been fun but somewhere, somehow, the fast lane came to a fast end. Charged with 130 counts of conspiracy to distribute narcotics, I had lost nearly everything including a million dollar a year Pharmacy business. For days the bloody prints remained on the wall, mocking me, tempting me to put mine next to them in death. Often the desire to take my own life became so strong I had to fight with everything I had to stay alive. One day I just couldn't fight any longer. I decided I could not live in this hell hole any longer. Death had to be better than living in a cell smeared with dried blood of a desperate man. As I looked for a quick way to do it, I heard foot steps coming toward my cell. As they came to the cell, they stopped. "Stanley, I got a letter for you," the voice of the guard called out. With much effort I reached for the letter and opened it. It was from an old high school friend, Dave Walton. Dave said he had been by my house to check on my family. He said they were OK and that they loved me. He said he too loved me, but there was one, right there in my cell who loved even more and His name was Jesus. "The way of the cross leads home, Don." Dave said, with out Him I was lost. I can't quiet explain what happened next. As I knelt next to my bunk, I recall asking Jesus to come into my heart & life and to forgive me of my sins. Some great Weight came off of my life at that time. I knew that Jesus was right there in my cell and He was hearing and answering me. I met Jesus Christ in prison and became the freeest man in prison. Tears rolled down my cheek as the Giver of my life gave me a new life. Now it is a few years later, God has given me a ministry to do. My family and I have been restored and we take serious the call to lead others to Christ. Are you in a spiritual prison? Do you feel bound? Do you feel there is more than this to life? There is and I want you to have it. Will you pray with me right now? "Lord Jesus, I know that I've not been living for you. I want to have my sins forgiven and I want you to take control of my heart and life right now. Come into my life and reign forever. In the name Of Jesus, I pray. Amen. If you have just prayed that prayer, I want to rejoice with you. Please writel to me and let me know. I will be waiting for your e-mail.
